The First Aid at Work course is a comprehensive workplace first-aid qualification for people who may be required to deal with a wider range of injuries and illnesses.
It includes the essential emergency skills covered in Emergency First Aid at Work and then goes further, covering additional injuries, medical conditions and casualty-management situations that may arise in the workplace.
The course is particularly suitable for organisations where a first-aid needs assessment identifies higher workplace risks, larger numbers of employees, more complex activities or a need for first aiders with broader knowledge.
Training combines theory with practical exercises so learners can practise assessing incidents, managing casualties and responding appropriately while waiting for professional medical assistance.

Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work - Which Do I Need?
The right course depends on the workplace, not simply on personal preference. Employers should complete a first-aid needs assessment before deciding which level of training is required.
Choose EFAW when
The workplace needs emergency first-aid cover and the needs assessment identifies the EFAW level as appropriate.
See Emergency First Aid at Work →Choose FAW when
The workplace requires broader first-aid competence because of factors such as higher hazards, larger workforce, work activities or other needs identified by the employer.
Important: Some workplaces may also need additional specialist training for specific hazards or work activities.
Why First Aid at Work Matters
A trained first aider may be the first person to respond when a colleague is seriously injured or becomes suddenly ill. Good first aid can help preserve life, prevent a condition from becoming worse and support the casualty until professional help is available.
The course is designed to give learners a structured approach so they can assess the situation, prioritise the casualty's needs and act safely rather than panic.
Why Choose High Aims Training?
- Experienced, Practical DeliveryOur training focuses on realistic workplace situations and practical application.
- Clear and Supportive TeachingWe explain each topic in straightforward language and give learners time to practise.
- Confidence, Not Just a CertificateThe aim is for learners to leave understanding how to respond, not simply remembering answers for an assessment.
- Options for EmployersOrganisations can contact us to discuss group bookings and workplace delivery where suitable.
Group and On-Site First Aid at Work Training
For employers with several members of staff to train, group delivery can make scheduling easier and allow the trainer to discuss workplace-specific first-aid considerations.
If your workplace has particular hazards, tell us when enquiring so the training needs can be considered. HSE guidance advises employers to inform training organisations about particular workplace hazards so that appropriate additional training can be considered.
